SURVEY: People Are Already Working on Their Thanksgiving Plans

Fall may have just started, but apparently, some folks are already thinking about the holidays, and for some, the planning has already begun. 

A new Jennie-O survey finds:

  • 57% of people say they are making their Thanksgiving plans earlier than usual.
  • 62% are hopeful that this Thanksgiving will look more like a typical year.
  • The majority of people plan to attend a virtual Thanksgiving, as well as an in-person one.
  • 42% are also planning to attend a Friendsgiving.

When it comes to the holiday meal:

  • 35% start planning their Thanksgiving meal as early as September.
  • 36% won’t buy their turkey though until one week before the holiday.
  • 37% of people fear making the holiday bird.
    • 49% are worried it will be overcooked.
    • 37% are concerned they don’t know how long to cook it.
  • 51% plan to roast their turkeys this year, while 34% will fry them.
  • 49% of people prefer dark meat, while 45% prefer white meat.
  • 28% of people expect to eat between four and six pounds of food on Thanksgiving day.
    • 27% will eat seven to 10 pounds.
    • 20% will eat up to three pounds.
    • 11% will eat between 11 and 14 pounds.
    • 5% plan to stuff themselves with more than 15 pounds of food.
