Quinton Dunbar inactive for Seahawks; Tyron Smith out for Cowboys

Divisional Round - Seattle Seahawks v Green Bay Packers

The Seattle Seahawks will be without starting cornerback Quinton Dunbar for Sunday afternoon's game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Dunbar was ruled inactive by Seattle due to a knee injury that kept him limited in practice during the week. He did not take part in the team's final practice on Friday. Head coach Pete Carroll had been somewhat optimistic about Dunbar's chances of playing.

"He didn't practice much this week but he looks like he's ready to play," Carroll said of Dunbar. "But we wanted to make sure in and give them as much rest time as possible."

That rest wasn't enough to get him in uniform against the Cowboys. Instead, Tre Flowers should get his first start of the season at the position.

Backup cornerback Neiko Thorpe is also out due to a groin/hip injury that also held him out of practice on Friday. The injuries to Dunbar and Thorpe leave the Seahawks a bit thin at cornerback. Ugo Amadi will serve as the nickel cornerback with Linden Stephens, who was promoted from the practice squad during the week, serving as the depth at the position. Additionally, Ryan Neal, promoted on Saturday, can play both cornerback and safety to help out if necessary.

Neal is active over Lano Hill, who was one of the six players declared inactive by the Seahawks prior to the game. Neal's positional versatility given the bind at cornerback likely gave him the nod for the game as Hill was not on the injury report this week.

Defensive end Benson Mayowa is active after being listed as questionable due to a groin issue. Mayowa did not practice either Wednesday or Thursday before returning to limited participation on Friday.

Backup tackle Cedric Ogbuehi is inactive for a third straight game to a pectoral injury from training camp. He was questionable to play. Tight end Luke Willson and center Kyle Fuller are the other two healthy scratches for Seattle. Rookies Alton Robinson and DeeJay Dallas will be in uniform for the first time after being inactive the first two weeks. First-round pick Jordyn Brooks is also set to start at linebacker in place of Bruce Irvin, who was placed on injured reserve this week.

For Dallas, left tackle Tyron Smith is out for a second straight week due to a neck injury. He joins cornerback Chidobe Awuzie as the two players out with injuries for the Cowboys.

Defensive end Demarcus Lawrence was questionable due to a knee injury but is active and will play against Seattle.
