Seahawks claim D'Andre Walker off waivers from Titans

Rose Bowl Game - Oklahoma v Georgia

The Seattle Seahawks have claimed D'Andre Walker off waivers from the Tennessee Titans.

Walker was a fifth-round pick of the Titans last year out of the University of Georgia. An injury in training camp wiped out his entire rookie year with the team as he was placed on injured reserve.

Walker, listed as a linebacker on the transaction wire, would appear to be more of a defensive end in Seattle's defensive scheme. Over his final two seasons at Georgia, Walker recorded 13 sacks with 7.5 sacks and four forced fumbles during his senior season in 2018.

The Seahawks waived cornerback Linden Stephens to make room for Walker on their active roster.

None of the 19 players waived by the Seahawks on Saturday were claimed by other teams. In fact, just 17 players were claimed off waivers league-wide, which is far fewer than seen in most years. The lack of preseason games meant that teams couldn't scout the depth players on rival rosters over the last month.

Seattle will now build out a 16-player practice squad that will consist of many of the players that cleared waivers. The players waived by the team on Saturday were: OT Tommy Champion, DT Demarcus Christmas, QB Danny Etling, WR Aaron Fuller, QB Anthony Gordon, LB Shaquem Griffin, WR Penny Hart, CB Gavin Heslop, DT P.J. Johnson, DT Cedrick Lattimore, WR Lance Lenoir, TE Tyler Mabry, S Chris Miller, S Ryan Neal, CB Debione Renfro, CB Jayson Stanley, WR Stephen Sullivan, WR Cody Thompson and OT Chad Wheeler.

Stephens will become eligible to join the practice squad tomorrow if he now clears waivers.
