With growing concerns surrounding The Coronavirus and COVID-19 we've seen a growing number of closings or postponements of public events. Below is a running list of known school and public event closings or postponements in our area that might have an effect on our communities.

Anchorage Police Department - APD has closed its front counter at its headquarters due to a significant drop in public utilization because of COVID-19 concerns. APD will be putting these resources to helping the public online and/or via the phone. If you want to pay traffic citations, pay by phone at 907-786-2429. REVISED HOURS/FOOD SERVICE for Dimond Center Mall shops - Restaurants and snack/coffee services in the Dimond Mall are still open for takeout service, and some are also offering delivery. However, the food court and restaurant dine-in areas are closed. Although several mall shops have closed, many remain open but with limited hours and are observing social distancing guidelines. It is recommended that you call ahead if you want to visit a specific shop.
The Clean Air Challenge - This bike event, originally scheduled on May9th, has been postponed until the fall. The American Lung Association in Alaska will announce specific dates at a later time.
Anchorage 5th Avenue Mall - Closed until March 29th.
Anchorage Public Transportation Department - has CLOSED the Downtown Transit Center Lobby and Customer Service Windows. People Mover buses will be limited to NINE RIDERS MAXIMUM CAPACITY to comply with social distancing guidelines. Additionally, People Mover buses and AnchorRides paratransit service will be provided FREE OF CHARGE. This will provide economic relief for transit riders and provide more protection for transit operators (less exposure to the virus at the fare box).
Anchorage Water and Wastewater Utility (AWWU) and Municipal Light and Power (ML&P) - Are temporarily suspending utility shutoffs. The suspension is effective 3/17/20 and will remain in effect for the duration of the municipally declared disaster.
Bars, breweries and restaurants - Dine-in service for food or drink at bars, breweries and restaurants will be prohibited until 11:59 p.m. on March 31. All buffets and salad bars will be closed to self-service. Drive-thru, take-out, and delivery services are allowed. This restriction does not apply to grocery stores.
All entertainment facilities including theaters, gyms, and bingo halls - Will be closed starting at 5:00 p.m., Monday, March 16 until 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31.
All buffets and salad-bars - Will be closed to self-service.
All gatherings with more than 50 people - All events and mass gatherings with 50 people or more starting at 5:00 p.m., Monday, March 16 until 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31.
Municipal libraries and civic, cultural, and recreational facilities - Will be closed until March 31.
Anchorage Public Schools - Closure of all Anchorage Public Schools for students until May 1st, as well as suspending all rentals of ASD facilities until further notice.
