Judge Orders Missouri Deer Poacher To Watch 'Bambi' While In Prison

A Missouri judge has ordered a man convicted of illegally killing hundreds of deer over a three year period to watch Bambi at least once a month during his year-long prison sentence. 29-year-old David Berry Jr. was accused of killing the deer and taking their heads while leaving their bodies to rot.

"Taking just the heads is their version of obtaining a 'trophy' and leaving the carcass behind is merely an afterthought," said Missouri Department of Conservation Protection Division Chief Randy Doman, according to the Springfield News-Leader. "While there are some cases where poachers go after the antlers for profit, with this bunch it was more about the thrill of the kill itself."

In addition to being forced to watch the heartbreaking Disney movie, in which Bambi's mother is shot and killed by a hunter, Berry also had his hunting and fishing licenses revoked for life by the Missouri Conservation Commission.
